FA Hands FA Cup DVD Rights to ILC Media

The Football Association has announced that ILC Media has been granted the DVD licensing rights for the 2008 FA Cup Final. The Final, which will be held at Wembley on 17th May will see Premier League side Portsmouth FC and League Championship team Cardiff City compete for the honour.

With much anticipation surrounding the final, which is Cardiff City’s first appearance in 81 years and Portsmouth’s first in 69 years, the scene is set for a momentous occasion for fans of both clubs.

Continuing their longstanding relationship with the FA, ILC Media has acquired the rights to over fifty FA Cup Final clashes, including classics dating back to the Stanley Matthews Final of 1953, and more recently the epic Gerrard Final of 2006, which on its own has sold over 60,000 units.

The 2008 Final will be a welcome addition to ILC Media’s catalogue, with the company enthusiastic about the DVD’s potential to equal sales of the 2006 encounter. ILC Media Business Manager, Claire Fitzgerald, said

“Both Portsmouth and Cardiff are very well supported teams, neither of whom have had the opportunity to take part in an occasion as huge as the FA Cup Final in the lifetime of most fans. The achievement will be enormous for whichever team wins and the DVD will be the most comprehensive souvenir of the occasion.”

The 2008 FA Cup Final DVD will be released as a two disc set in June, containing full match footage, pre and post match reaction, the Road to Wembley, and the best goals from the tournament.
