PRESS RELEASE : ILC By Another Name

ILC Sport to Rebrand as ILC Media
Following nearly a decade operating as one of the most recognisable DVD labels in the UK sports market, ILC Sport is to rebrand as ILC Media, reflecting the organisations’ rapid growth and expanding license portfolio.
June 1st 2007 sees the company assume the new identity, which will be followed by the release of numerous ‘new-genre’ titles. Over recent years, the company, formerly recognised as ILC Sport, has acquired DVD distribution rights for numerous licensors, including UEFA, RFU, the English FA, and numerous leading Premiership and Championship football clubs.
Whilst still retaining a heavy focus on the sports DVD market, ILC Media intends to utilise the experience gained within the sector to deliver quality programming across other genres, with future releases covering entertainment, documentary, film, and music categories.
Sales Director, Andrew Palmer, states "Whist we remain committed to the needs of our clients within the football industry, we are keen to utilise our experience to expand into new categories. Sport will always form a core element of our portfolio, but with personal industry experience of over 20 years, and a team comprising of Production, Design, and Marketing departments, we are now in a position to widen our reach and bring new genre titles to the market."
Proving that sports content remains strategically important for the company, the first release under the new identity sees the release of the Official 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup Review in July, with new category releases scheduled later in the year. The first new genre output will be that of 1960’s cult movie classic, The Cross and the Switchblade, followed by live music releases featuring Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter Shelby Lynne, and Country star Neal McCoy; both out in October.
Other highlights include the first DVD release of Crufts, the worlds largest dog show; released in association with the Kennel Club, and the first UK showing of hit US TV series, Billionaire’s Car Club.
Further expansion sees ILC Media enter the fiercely competitive fitness DVD market, with a December release scheduled for Cardio Cheer, a 5-Disc instructional programme fronted by American Idol and X-Factor star, Paula Abdul. Continuing the theme, content distribution rights have also been agreed with leading yoga expert Liz Lark, which will see her inaugural title enter the market early in 2008.
With the year ahead set to be a busy one for ILC Media, the company clearly has the drive to succeed in these new territories and is looking forward to future growth, with Palmer stating "2007/08 is an extremely important period for us, and we are determined to deliver the same outstanding results for other category releases, as we have done, and will continue to do, for the sports genre."
